TAE (Tris-Acetic acid-EDTA Buffer): Made from ultrapure water and high quality Tris base, Acetic acid and EDTA
Applications: For making Gels and in molecular biology it is used in agarose electrophoresis typically for the separation of nucleic acids such as DNA and RNA Function: Tris serves as the cation in the conductive medium. EDTA sequesters divalent cations and keeps DNA from inter and intra molecular secondary structures. TE buffer solubilizes DNA or RNA, while protecting it from degradation.
